Captain Miracle and Olivia Piggie

It seems that spring is trying to fight its way through these past few weeks and we have fully taken advantage of the handful of beautiful days we've had so far. Visits to the new house site, playgrounds, and fun in the backyard have all been keeping us busy and entertained. One of the more interesting moments included a picnic at a local park where a squirrel circled us the whole time while the kids yelled "No!" at it! At home, Andrew has enjoyed climbing on top of the playhouse and calling himself Captain Miracle. He's a superhero and the playhouse is a train when he's on top...quite the imagination! I've been working with Olivia for her to allow me to get her hair out of her eyes and for her to leave the bow or elastic band alone. I finally succeeded at giving her pig tails, and she looks just like her Olivia the Pig tshirt :) Yesterday it was warm enough to get out some buckets and bowls of water for scooping and dumping, which is probably one of Andrew and Olivia's favorite things to do. Andrew likes to call it "water fight" and it was an appropriate name yesterday when he dumped a container of water over Olivia's head. If these past few weeks are any indication, we have lots of outdoor fun ahead of us this summer!

Easter Sunday

What a beautiful day! We enjoyed spending the morning with Carl's parents today before Carl and his dad headed out to take advantage of the great weather today to get some work done on the house. Sue's birthday was yesterday, so we celebrated by making a yummy breakfast followed by a bunny shaped cake. In between all the eating, the kids got baskets from Mamoo and Papa as well as from the Easter Bunny. The Bunny even hid some eggs around the house for Andrew and Olivia to find!

Olivia had a long nap after all the morning fun, then the three of us took advantage of the warm weather and walked to the playground. Andrew was happy to run and climb and Olivia loved practicing climbing and going down slides.

We had some downtime and dinner after the playground and ended the night Facetiming with Grandma Joanie. We were all worn out after such a fun day together :)

House Update

I've been out to check on the progress of our new home a few times since my last update. There has been a lot done that will not be seen once we move in such as wiring, plumbing, and ducting. Very important parts of the house puzzle, but stuff I don't know too much about...if you want details on any of those systems, you'll have to talk to Carl! While waiting for the weather to improve enough to build the garage and then complete the roof (no more snow, please!), Carl has been doing as much as he can in the basement and has completed almost all of the drywall other than the walls around the stairs. Its pretty cool to stand in my future laundry room, feel how much space the kids will have to play in the basement, and imagine living there. The kids, dogs, and I had fun visiting on Saturday before the snow his on Sunday. I'm really excited to see how different the house will look once the garage goes up and the roof and siding can go on. The wall of windows at the back of the house will also be ordered soon...I can't wait to see how amazing that will be when it's put in!

Gypsy Life (or me + 2 kids + 3 nights in three different places)

This week is Andrew's spring break. So, I decided to take advantage and plans trip to visit the various branches of my family over an extended weekend. Since there is still plenty of work to be done on our new house for Carl to be doing, the kids and I were on our own. We had a great time visiting Mimi, eating a St. Patrick's Day feast, having a sleepover with Grandma Joanie, spending a day and night with Papa John and Maga Suzi, playing with Auntie Nicky, Logan, Uncle Ken, and Murphy, and a trip to the Kohl Children's Museum. Our very busy weekend in pictures:

Go Shorty, It's My Birthday

On Monday, I celebrated my 33rd birthday. Wow - how did I get this old?! Really, I often still feel like a kid and find myself thinking its so weird I'm allowed to to these adult things like be married and raise children. But yet, here I am. Guess you're only as old as you feel, right?

Anyway, my birthday was very nice. It started with a visit from my mom last weekend. I even got to take a nap while she and Andrew baked a cake for me! She also prepared a tasty dinner for us. Thanks, Mom!

The birthday fun continued on Sunday with a sushi dinner out with the girls. As always, we had a blast catching up and eating yummy food. I was so thankful to send some time with my friends who I don't see nearly often enough!

My actual birthday was a very busy day, filled with mostly good things (the not good: cleaning dog poop off the floor, emptying and refilling the dishwasher a couple of times, wiping kids' butts). Included in my day: spending time with my favorite 2 munchkins, teaching a challenging PiYo class, many birthday messages via mail, phone, email, and Facebook, and a date with my man after the kids went to sleep!

I'm looking into the coming year with positivity, excited for everything to come (new home, best friend's wedding, and more!)!

Olivia's Dance Party

Olivia and I have some fun while Andrew is at school for the morning. :)

Young Love

The thought of my children breaking hearts and having their hearts broken hasn't really been a concern of mine just yet. However, perhaps it should be. This morning, Andrew was talking about one of his classmates (a girl we have also had play dates with at our house and hers) and he said that she was his friend, but not anymore. I asked why she wasn't his friend anymore and he said she acted mean to him. Then he said, "I might love her." I totally was not expecting that! I asked if he told her that and he said yes. My reply was, "she didn't like that?", and he said no. :( Poor guy. He's mentioned her a couple more time today saying that she's not his friend anymore because he acted mean to her and she acted mean to him. It's kinda hard to decipher what all is going on in his 3 year old boy head, but hopefully it'll all be resolved when they see each other at school on Monday and they'll be friends again. Till then, it'll be extra hugs and love from Mom and Dad <3

The Nudist and the Underpants Queen

As the title suggests,we have some new characters at our house. Suddenly, Andrew has decided he likes to take all his clothes of at random times throughout the far only at time when it's just us here (thankfully!). Imagine my surprise a couple of weeks ago while cleaning the table after breakfast I hear Andrew yell, "I'm silly cakes," and run by fully undressed! I had a good laugh.

Olivia has become quite interested in the whole potty process and specifically, underwear. She gets ahold of a pair of Andrew's whenever I'm doing laundry or he's left them on the floor and tries to put them on. Usually, I end up having to put them on her over her pants or she gets very upset. A purchase of little girl underwear is in my immediate future. Meanwhile, I just have to hope I can get Andrew dressed again in time to leave for my class at the gym!
